Marching Band-Joe Brooks
The newest of my favorite songs. Somewhere between Joe Brooks' amazing voice and the lyrical beauty, I fell in love.

Just a Dream-Nelly
Some people won't like this song because it's too rappish. I happen to be quite a fan of it myself. It's a very emotional song whether you relate to it or not.
"If you ever loved somebody, put your hands up."

Last Christmas-Ashly Tisdale
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone
I'll give it to someone special
Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance, but you still catch my eye
Tell me baby, do you recognize me?
Well it's been a year, it doesn't surprise me
Happy Christmas
I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying "I love you", I meant it
Now I know what a fool I've been
But if you kissed me now, I know you'd fool me again
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Special
Yea yea
A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you, and your soul of ice
I thought you were someone to rely on
Me, I guess I was a shoulder to cry on
A friend to discover with a fire in her heart
A man under cover but you tore me apart
Now I've found a real love, you'll never fool me again
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Will it be bad if I admit that thsi is one of my favorite Christmas songs? Lame of me, I know.
I'm still looking for an awesome version of this song. The original is good, but weird. Taylor Swift's (as much as I love her) bugs me, as does HIllary Duff's. This is by far the best versioni vocal wise, but the "lala, lalala! lala, lalala!" certainly doesn't make the song sound any better... but it will do for now.

Enchanted-Taylor Swift
LYRICS
Here I was again tonight forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old tired, lonely place
Walls of insincerity
Shifiting eyes and vancancy vanished when I saw your face
All I can say is it was enchanting to meet you
Your eyes whispered "have we met?"
Across the room your silhouette starts to make it's way to me
The playful conversation starts
Counter all your quick remarks like passing notes in secrecy
And it was enchanting to meet you
All I can say is I was enchanted to meet you
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you
The lingering question kept me up
2am, who do you love?
I wonder till I'm wide awake
Now I'm pacing back and forth, wishing you were at my door
I'd open up and you would say,
It was enchanted to meet you
All I know is I was enchanted to meet you
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
This night is flawless, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, dancing around all alone
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you
This is me praying that this was the very first page
Not where the story line ends
My thoughts will echo your name until I see you again
These are the words I held back as I was leaving too soon
I was enchanted to meet you
Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you
Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
This night is flawless, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, dancing around all alone
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you
Please don't be in love with someone else
Please don't have somebody waiting on you
Taylor Swift's new album was released the other day. This would have to be one of my favorite songs from the album. ::)
(sorry about the bad quality ::\ )

Stuttering-Fefe Dobson
I did not mean to find this song. I was listening to "Love Like Woe" by The Ready Set (good song, btw) and I couldn't help but notice the little trademark "J-J-J-J-J-J-R" at the beginning. Curious, I did a Google search and found out that J. R Rotem is a music producer who specializes in all those funky beats you hear in pop music. "Stuttering" was at the very bottom of the list of songs and looked rather lonely so I gave it a listen. Now I-I-I-I can't stop st-stuttering. ((Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh E-E-E-E-E-E Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh-Whoa!))

Funny the Way it Is-Dave Matthews Band
This used to be my favorite song at this time last year. It really makes you think. "Somebody's heart is broken and it becomes your favorite song."

Long Shot by Kelly Clarkson
The lyrical genius of Matt Theissen and Kelly Clarkson's voice: What more can we ask for?
I felt it, the wire touched my neck
And then someone pulled it tighter
I never saw it coming, I started to black out
And then someone said good morning
I took it as a warning
I should have seen it coming
So now I'll take a chance on
This thing we may have started
Intentional or not, I don't think we saw it coming
It's all adding up to something
That asks for some involvement
That ask for our commitment
I think I see it coming
If we step out of that limb
My heart beat beats me senselessly
Why's everything got to be so intense with me
I'm trying to handle all this unpredictability
In all probability
It's a long shot, but I say why not
If I say forget it, I know that I'll regret it
It's a long shot just to beat these odds
The chance is we won't make it
But I know if I don't take it, there's no chance
'Cause you're the best I got
So take a long shot
I realize that there is all this starting
Things we're both scared about
That we'll never see them coming
Throw caution to the wind
And we'll see which way it's blowing
And to this pulling on
We'll never see it coming
Until it's much to close to stop
My heart beat beats me senselessly
Why's everything got to be so intense with me
I'm trying to handle all this unpredictability
In all probability
It's a long shot, but I say why not
If I say forget it, I know that I'll regret it
It's a long shot just to beat these odds
The chance is we won't make it
But I know if I don't take it, there's no chance
'Cause you're the best I got
So take a long shot
Oh I waited for fact to come of fiction
And you fit my description
I never saw you coming
But we'll make it
It's a long shot, but I say why not
If I say forget it, I know that I'll regret it
It's a long shot just to beat these odds
The chance is we won't make it
But I know if I don't take it, there's no chance
'Cause you're the best I got
So take a long shot
There's no chance, there's no chance
'Cause you're the best I got
It's a long shot but I say why not
If I say forget it I know that I'll regret it
It's a long shot just to beat these odds
The chance is we won't make it
But I know if I don't take it
It's a long shot but I say why not
Oh you never saw me coming

Babylon-Don Mclean
By the waters,
The waters,
Of Babylon.
We lay down and wept,
And wept,
For thee Zion.
We remember,
Thee remember,
Thee remember,
Thee Zion.
This song is based off of Psalm 137 "Sorrow and Hope in Exile"
By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept
when we remembered Zion.
There on the poplars
we hung our harps,
for there our captors asked us for songs,
our tormentors demanded songs of joy;
they said, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!"
How can we sing the songs of the LORD
while in a foreign land?
It's a very tragic and eyrie scenario and this song, I think, does it justice. It has such a stunningly beautiful sound! This recording is of a live version, it isn't very often that the live version is better than the studio version but this is a remarkable exception. The performance was recorded in Manchester in 1979 and the audience are truly amazing singers! They bring alot of heart into the lyrics!!

You and Me-Lifehouse
Words cannot describe how much I l o v e this song! It's one those songs that you can't help but smile to :) And yes I know it is sappy and corny but whenever I hear the chorus my heart is flying through the clouds. :P Lifehouse sounds soooo amazing in their slow songs, anyone who agrees with me can I get an "amen"? lol Enjoy!

Misguided Ghosts, Paramore
Lyrics:
(1,2,3,4)
I'm going away for a while
But I'll be back, don't try and follow me
'cause I'll return as soon as possible
See I'm trying to find my place
But it might not be here where I feel safe
We all learn to make mistake
And run
From them
With no direction
We'l run from them, from them
With no conviction
Cause I'm just one of those ghosts
Travelling endlessly
Don't need no roads
In fact they follow me
And we just go in circles
Well now I'm told that this life
And pain is just a simple compromise
So we can get what we want out of it
Someone care to classify,
A broken heart and twisted minds
So I can find someone to rely on
And run
To them, to them
Full speed ahead
Oh you are not
Useless
We are just
Misguided ghosts
Travelling endlessly
The ones we trusted the most
Pushed us far away
And theres no one role
We should not be the same
But I'm just a ghost
And still they echo me
They echo me in circles
This song paints a beautiful picture in my mind. Just the idea of "misguided ghosts." It's so sad and so beautiful.

Gravity-Sara Bareilles
lyrics:
Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do I'll still feel you here 'til the moment I'm gone.
You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much than to drown in your love and not feel your rain.
Set me free, leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.
You loved me 'cause I'm fragile.
When I thought that I was strong.
But you touch me for a little while and all my fragile strength is gone.
Set me free, leave me be. I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me and all over me.
I live here on my knees as I try to make you see that you're everything I think I need here on the ground.
But you're neither friend nor foe though I can't seem to let you go.
The one thing that I still know is that you're keeping me down.
But you're on to me, on to me and all over me.
Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
This song is so gorgeous. I first heard it today and I think I've listened to it at least 10 times. She has such a beautiful voice (that you might recognize from "Love Song") and it's just a very simple song and just so full of emotion.

Which to Bury, Us or the Hatchet-Relient K
Lyrics-
I think you know what Im getting at
I find it so upsetting that
The memories that you select
You keep the bad but the good you just forget
And even though Im angry I can still say
I know my heart will break the day
When you peel out and drive away
I cant believe this happened
And all this time I never thought
That all we had would be all for none
No, I dont hate you
Dont want to fight you
Know Ill always love you
But right now I just dont like you
No, I dont hate you
Dont want to fight you
Know Ill always love you
But right now I just dont like you
Cause you took this too far (too far)
Make your decision and dont you dare think twice
Go with your instincts along with some bad advice
This didnt turn out the way I thought it would at all
You blame me but some of this is still your fault
I tried to move you, but you just wouldnt budge
I tried to hold your hand but youd rather hold your grudge
I think you know what Im getting at
You said goodbye and I just dont want you regretting that
No, I dont hate you
Dont want to fight you
Know Ill always love you
But right now I just dont like you
No, I dont hate you
Dont want to fight you
Know Ill always love you
But right now I just dont like you
And wisdom always chooses
These black eyes and these bruises
Over the heartache that they say
Never completely goes away
(I just cant believe this happened and one day well see this come around)
And wisdom always chooses
These black eyes and these bruises
Over the heartache that they say
Never completely goes away
No, I dont hate you
Dont want to fight you
Know Ill always love you
But right now I just dont like you
No, I dont hate you
Dont want to fight you
Know Ill always love you
But right now I just dont like you
Cause you took this too far (too far)
What happened to us
I heard that its me we should blame
What happened to us
Why didnt you stop me from turnin out this way
And know that I dont hate you
And know that I Dont want to fight you
And know Ill always love you
But right now I just dont
This is one of Relient K's more angsty, emotional songs. I, myself, am a huge fan of it because I absolutely l o v e to pick songs apart, trying to figure out exactly what the artist is talking about. I've had alot of fun with this song.

"Boston" by Augustana
This song is p e r f e c t for a rainy day like today. The piano instrumental at the beginning is so beautiful, and filled with emotion. I love the movement of this song, it starts out slow then reaches a crecendo at the bridge (with a wicked guitar solo, no less!) and then ends with the piano yet again. This song is great to listen to when you're down. It's a great pick-me-up :)
Boston. Where no one knows my name.

Taylor Swift-Mine
Since Katherine never post (you're in trouble, btw....), ya'll are getting more country (albeit popish country).
Mine is Taylor's newest single and one of my favorite songs by her.
Along with this post I will include a link to an article by my mom's friend and editor, Danielle Bean. She says what I am thinking more eloquently than I ever could--at least not in the amount of time I am willing to spend writing a blog post :).
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
You were in college, working part-time, waiting tables
Left a small town and never looked back
I was a flight risk, afraid of fallin'
Wondering why we bother with love, if it never lasts
I say, "Can you believe it?"
As we're lyin' on the couch
The moment, I can see it
Yes, yes, I can see it now
Do you remember, we were sittin' there, by the water?
You put your arm around me for the fist time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine
Flash forward, and we're takin' on the world together
And there's a drawer of my things at your place
You learn my secrets and figure out why I'm guarded
You say we'll never make my parents' mistakes
But we got bills to pay
We got nothin' figured out
When it was hard to take
Yes, yes
This is what I thought about:
Do you remember, we were sittin' there, by the water?
You put your arm around me for the fist time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine
Do you remember all the city lights on the water?
You saw me start to believe for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine
Oh, oh, oh, oh
And I remember that fight, two-thirty AM
You said everything was slipping right out of our hands
I ran out, crying, and you followed me out into the street
Braced myself for the goodbye, cause that's all I've ever known
Then, you took me by surprise
You said, "I'll never leave you alone."
You said, "I remember how we felt, sitting by the water.
And every time I look at you, it's like the first time.
I fell in love with a careless man's careful daughter.
She is the best thing that's ever been mine."
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine
Do you believe it?
We're gonna make it now
And I can see it
I can see it now
